Obelt Thresher Received Minister of Agriculture’s Attention

Farmer Field Day 2010 featured the innovation of Obelt Thresher (device for paddy threshing). It was held at Bogor Institute of Agriculture’s Leuwikopo Field Laboratory, Darmaga-Bogor on 1 – 3 October 2010. This event was packed with a series of exhibitions and dissemination of technologies, farmers’ gatherings, and the introduction of new plant varieties by the Minister of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Suswono, MMA, at the culmination of the event on the third day which was also attended by about 400 farmers from West Java, Central Java, East Java, and several other areas.

Obelt thresher, with its motto “Thresh the Paddy And Thresh Your Problem,” attracted the attention of farmers and particularly the Minister of Agriculture who was quite enthusiastic to ask for explanation about the development, advantages, and marketing of the innovation developed by Niko Daniar, Prahana Mahawan Putra, Yuyun Lutfianita, and Shohib Qomad Dillah.

With very low threshing-loss (1.25%) compared to other methods, Obelt thresher is demanded by farmers and Department of Agriculture from several areas.
